Finding Out How to Unlock the Phone

I was given a modern cell phone by my kids the other day. They really wanted me to replace the old device I was using. However, I am having a hard time dealing with this new gadget. I do not have much time to refer to the instructional manual included in its package. I even had to ask one of my kids to help me out in learning how to answer and place a call and compose a message using this phone. She is also the one who helped me out in putting the names and contact details of the people I have to keep in touch with in this device. But just this morning, I accidentally locked it. how can i unlock my phone? I already received a number of messages but I cannot read them because the phone’s locked up. I have to fix this the soonest possible time. Maybe I will bring it to its manufacturer’s customer service center or look for useful references online on how I can unlock the phone.
